How we work
Custom work starts with one useful problem. Prove it in real work.
Custom work begins with a free conversation because it must fit your systems, information, environment, and workflow—and may require new hardware or infrastructure. You receive a defined scope before paid work begins, and broader implementation starts only after a focused pilot works reliably in real work.
The engagement
What happens after you start a conversation
- 01
Conversation and review
Start with one workflow or system. If there is a fit, Starting Matter defines the scope, fixed price, timeline, and review deliverables before paid work begins.
- 02
Design and pilot
Together, define who will use the system, what information it may access, where people must review its work, and what the pilot must prove.
- 03
Implementation and handoff
Starting Matter builds and deploys the complete system, then delivers the documentation, administrative access, and source agreed for your implementation.
- 04
Optional support
After launch, Starting Matter can provide maintenance, managed infrastructure, repairs, updates, or new capabilities under a separate paid agreement.
The fixed-price review
The review gives you a written plan you can use, even if Starting Matter does not build the system.
The review documents your current software, data, workflows, and risks, then identifies the most useful next steps.
- 01Map of current software, data, infrastructure, integrations, and important workflows
- 02Assessment of current employee AI use and data movement
- 03Privacy, intellectual-property, security, and access-control findings
- 04Prioritized opportunities for AI, automation, integration, or conventional software
- 05Recommended deployment boundary and project phases
- 06Written findings and estimated implementation costs
AI is not forced into the project when ordinary software or process improvement is better.
The pilot uses real work only within the data access and review rules you approve.
Continuing maintenance or managed infrastructure is optional and separately paid.
A practical beginning
Start with one workflow in your current environment.
Custom work begins with a free conversation about your systems, what you want to improve, and any new hardware or infrastructure the solution may require.
